Book Reviews of The LochBook Review: Can't wait for the movie! Summary: 5 Stars
Steve Alten has done it again. Just when I thought he could not top Meg, he went and wrote a rollercoaster, heartstopping, and hard to put down story based on a real legend. The way he writes about the past and present really come together in future Clive Cussler style. Mr Alten as really done his home work on the Loch Ness legend. This story will transfer well to the screen. Mr Alten's writing style makes you feel like you are watching a movie. The story is very detailed and exciting. I recommend this book to anybody who enjoys a book that is hard to put down.
Book Review: Could Not Put It Down Summary: 5 Stars
This was the first book I have ever pre-ordered. Usually, I bide my time and get around to it. But after the MEG trilogy and Domain and Goliath and the previews for The Loch, I could not wait. And I was not disappointed. Steve does an awesome job blending past and present. Basing the story in science gives it an extra air of realism. The action is awesome, all the plots lines and the twists keep you on your toes. I did not want the book to end. Steve Alten has become my favorite author and this book just solidifies his position. Buy it. Read it. Enjoy.
Book Review: Couldn't put it down! Summary: 5 Stars
It normally takes me a week to read a book, but I read this in three days. Alten continues to thrill us with unimaginably large, blood thirsty sea creatures. I love how he combined a very old, fascinating legend with science and actually made it sound very plausible. And I like how he added the Scottish dialect as they would actually say it. One thing that I didn't like so much, although it was a very necessary part of the plot, was that it centered around the Knights Templar. It seems like I am reading a lot of books about something they did, had or protected lately. But this book was great! Highly recommended!

This book started off alittle slow but has a good building. Worth the read.
Book Review: Dissapointed... Summary: 2 Stars
I loved MEG and was so excited to finally read a novel about the Loch Ness monster. I was extremely let down by this book! It starts out pretty intense, with an underwater sub being attacked by menacing deep sea monsters in the Sargosa sea...but after this initial attack the plot skitters away into driftwood and It becomes a rip off of Meg.
The excruciatingly boring and drawn out scientific and historical details had me flipping the pages before I would nod off. The main character is irritating and his father is even more so. How am I supposed to ever feel compassion for a man who tossed his son into a lake he was terrified of-even if it was to cure him of his fear??
The main heroine of the book, Brandy, is a slut. Sorry for saying it, but she was. I think Mr.Alten writes terrible female characters. They are always willing to hop right into bed with a guy after only knowing him for 3 hours or so.
Anyways, this book was not as great as I expected it to be. If you are a huge fan of The Loch Ness monster you will either love this, or really hate it. It just wasn't my cup of tea.
