Book Reviews of The Lost Colony (Artemis Fowl, Book 5)Book Review: Non-stop read Summary: 5 StarsBoth my boys (11 & 14) LOVED this book. They love the whole series. Each in turn read it all the way through, not doing anything else except schoolwork until they were through.
Thank you, I love seeing my kids read!
Book Review: Another great story from Eoin Colfer Summary: 5 StarsThe latest in the Artemis Fowl series and the best yet. The books are getting a bit darker and scarier - people actually dying in the last two - but still greatly enjoyed by my whole family from the ten-yr-old up to the 57-yr-old. The fabulous Mulch Diggums surfaces again with the obligatory quota of fart jokes, there's an engaging new character and a great twist at the end (shhh). These are well-written, snappy, pacy books with not a surplus word in them. JK Rowling take note!
Book Review: Eoin Colfer Does It Again!!! Summary: 5 StarsEoin Colfer has created another masterpiece! Truly one of the greatest of all the 5 Artemis Fowl books, this book overcomes all of the rest. It captivates the imagination, and does justice to all of its hype. As Artemis goes on his long action packed journey with his long time friend Butler and his other friend Holly Short they embark to save a secret race from captivation or even death. Will they do it in time???
Being the fifth book of the series, Artemis sets out again on another world saving adventure. But it's not only the world he is saving, but a lost world of a lost fairy race. Artemis and his friends struggle to preserve the peace of the sane world. They also must confront their fears and weaknesses and use brains to overcome. But Artemis must confront something more than that. He must come to terms with his puberty and hormones when his best friend Holly Short is captured by a equal intelligence to his own. As he fights for his friend's safety, he has a new enemy. A better and smatter enemy. One more equipped and driven by insanity. Can Artemis beat them all and save a lost race?
To me this book has been very enjoyable because I have quiet the imagination. Also I enjoyed all of the other books in the series. One of the favorite parts for me was towards the beginning of the book when Artemis must rescue a creature from a lost world of a different fairy race. But along with trying to be the smartest and the brightest against his nemesis, he had to come to terms with his feelings for women as he was going through puberty. The transition was really amusing and made that part of the story ten times more interesting. Even though it looks like she is winning, Artemis was always one step ahead of her.
Artemis Fowl had a good moral standpoint on the good vs evil subject. What this book is really about is how intelligence and faith in yourself can overpower evil of the greatest forces. But part of that evil is within him, and Artemis had to fight with himself in order to save him and his friends from being lost within time warp.
This book honestly kept me entertained the whole time. But it will only do that for you if you have read the whole serious, because this is the 5th book and last book of the whole series. It kept me on the edge the whole time, and everyday I put the book down I wanted to keep reading it. Just how he smart he was and his ability to think ahead was mind boggling. I also suggest that more teenagers and above read this book because it has something's that younger people may not be able to understand or stretch their imagination. Also some words may be too big.
Book Review: Wow yet another Summary: 5 Starsi think this is the best book in the series. it is only good if u read the other 4 though!
Book Review: Not the End of Fowl Summary: 4 StarsThis book, like all of the other of Colfer's books (with the exception of Wish List) was great, but somehow didn't settle with me. For one thing, I didn't exactly appreciate the hanger at the end, and the progression of the story wasn't exactly one of Bond's great endeavors. While reading, I felt that the plot was to similar to those of the prequels, such as, calling in a criminal we meet at the beginning to be our Dues ex Machina. But don't let me keep you from reading this book. It was highly remarkable, and if I could, I would give it a 4.5
