Book Reviews of The Lost World

Book Review: A Page Turner
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is just so...great. This would have to be the best book I've ever read. Theres a great blend of action as well as charector development, theres also a great blend of Science inserted in as well. Michael Crichton knows how to write with suspence. Unlike Jurassic Park(Which I also loved), this book gets quickly to the point, it introduces some great charectors like Richard Levine for instance. The book can be gory at some times though but it wouldn't be that bad to read even if your not into gore and such(The killings are pretty descriptive though) maybe even more so than the first Jurassic Park. When I read this book I literally could not put it down. I had read around ten-fifteen chapters in one single day, thats how good the story is. This book just keeps you riveted and makes you ask for more. Theres one scene involving Dr. Sarah Harding and Kelly Chester on a motorcycle and it involves a Velociraptor, that would have to be one of my favorite scenes. Bottom line: This book is worth you hard earned money, I only paid like $7.00 but I would have paid $15.00 if I had to. I actually liked it better than the first. Highly recommended.

Book Review: A Perfect Sequel
Summary: 5 Stars

The Lost World was a perfect sequel to Jurassic Park. It extends the great excitement and adventure that was in the first book with many twists and turns. In the book Malcolm and a team locate a second island that was a sort of factory for the dinosaurs. Their fellow researcher Levine decides to go off on his own and explore the island. He is attacked and left stranded on the island. So Malcolm then puts together a group to go rescue Levine. As in Jurassic Park, there are lots of close encounters with dinosaurs. For example a T-Rex at one point pushes their camper over a 500 ft cliff.
The plot in my opinion is very exciting. When I was reading the book I could not tell what was going to happen next. At one point the team is safe on the island in state of the art campers. Then next thing you know everything is destroyed and the team is forced to flee into the compound onto the island. But the thing that was most compelling about the book was the characters.
In my opinion the characters were very well explained. The most complex of all the characters is Malcolm. He seems to be scarred form the events of the first book. And for a portion of the book, he will not even admit what happened on the first island. He seems to be deeply troubled. Some other characters are Richard Levine and Sara Harding. Richard is a smart and annoying paleontologist. He is known as one the best in his field. Sara is a wildlife biologist who comes on the rescue mission.
This book is a definite page turner and is a must have for all Jurassic Park fans. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone.

Book Review: A REAL PAGE TURNER!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

"The Lost World" was one of the best books i've ever read! When there's action,it's intense and when there's conversation it's interesting. This is the second time i've read the book and even though Idon't enjoy reading books over again this one's so good I had to. the book offers a good prediction of how dinos act and anyone who likes lots of conversation and intense action should readit.

Book Review: A Sequal to Come! Please....
Summary: 5 Stars

I must say that while readint THE LOST WORLD, I was thoroughly entertained. No matter what other reviewers may say, I feel that Chricton's writing style is wonderful for ALL ages. For once I was able to sit down and begin reading and SEE the action in my head. I'm not one for intellectual frim-fram, I just like reading a good book. THE LOST WORLD is just that. A GOOD BOOK. Actually, it's better, it's great! I found it more interesting than his first JURASSIC PARK simply because the majority of the science was cut out of the second. In my view there is still enough "meat" out there for a third book. I hope Mr. Chricton is tossing the idea around. But, just on one note. Stick to the book while writing the screenplay next time. The movie of this great book was great until Speilberg's tacked on T-Rex meets San Francisco!
