Book Reviews of The Lovely BonesBook Review: wouldn't be so angry if it wasn't so hyped Summary: 1 Stars
Wow, I can't believe I read this book based on the hype of not only professional book critics, but also friends. As most of the critical reviews have mentioned, the book starts off great. The grief experienced by the family as described by the author seemed genuine and very well written. And then it goes downhill from there. A mother who leaves her remaining two children because she can't cope with the death of the other? A mother-in-law who moves in in the interim? A sister who starts a sexual relationship with her boyfriend at 14 and has a perfect mature relationship resulting in marriage 10 years later? A friend who barely knew the deceased in life and then is obsessed with her for the rest of her life? A boy who had a passing schoolboy crush on the protagonist at 14 and can't let go of her? And then who has sex with her through another woman's body 10 years later? Should I go on?
I'm sorry I wasted $14 and hours of time on this.
