Book Reviews of The Lovely BonesBook Review: Most Depressing Book EVER! Summary: 1 Stars
Like many others, i was so incredibly intrigued by the opening sentences. I read so many raving reviews so i just had to read this book. As I read the book I became more and more depressed. I was hoping so badly that it would get better or that there woudl be some sort of resolution but there never was. It was horrible. Don't waste your time or your money.
Book Review: One of my favorites Summary: 5 Stars
In the little time I have available to read, this is the one book I picked. It's one of my favorites because you get to feel so close to the narrator, of Susie Salmon, she's like a long lost friend you really miss.
It was hard to put this book down, as the other review said, and I was also a bit disappointed toward the end---only probably because I wanted more detail about what happened to Susie's attacker. Nevertheless, this was one of the last really good books I read.
Book Review: Over rated? Summary: 3 Stars
This is one of several books I've read lately that makes me wonder what all the fuss is about. It starts with a gruesome and horrifying rape and murder of a young teenaged girl. It certainly got my attention. The murderer's and the grandmother's characters were perfect. I felt like I new and understood who they were. However, the rest of the characters were vague and I had no understanding of who they were and why they did what they did. Consequently, I just didn't care. I also didn't feel that the author herself had any understanding of what her heaven was supposed to be. So I certainly didn't. It's a great example of a book that starts with a thunderbolt and drags on in drizzle.
Book Review: Pretty Good. Summary: 3 Stars
I think the beginning of this book was wonderfully written. But the middle it got a bit on the boring side.
I didn't love it as much as most people, but it was worth reading. It was an interesting story and gave a different viewpoint...from a young girl in heaven.
Book Review: Reassuring Summary: 4 Stars
Bought at an airpot and figured it would be a sleeper. To my surprise it was quite capturing from the first couple pages. Susie Salmon tragically & abruptly taken away from earth and transported into a plane in where we all have questioned at one time or another. A beautifully written novel about love, understanding, perseverance and finally justice. It was very hard to put it down. Although the ending was far from where i though it would lead, it made me understand that the authors message was one of reassurance to life's grief of loss.
