Book Review: Fascinating Story!

Urbanski definitely did his homework, collecting information from Cash's life, telling stories of both his extensive musical history, and what was happening in his life that influenced his music. No gory detail was left out - you hear of his failed first marriage, addiction to painkillers, and his many health problems and injuries. The most amazing thing portrayed in the book was Cash's solid faith in Jesus that kept him going after seemingly endless hardships. Again, Urbanski didn't shy away from making this a very spiritual book, which I think would be the way Cash wanted it. Never have I see such an influential character for Christ in pop culture. Urbanski was sure to depict Cash as a man who people could relate to, who didn't force his faith on people, but challenged them and spoke truth to them, in a loving way. It was shocking to read about his days on his variety show and playing concerts in Vegas where he would provide an invitation to accept Christ at the end of each night!
One of my favorite parts of the book was the final chapter, a section dedicated to tributes of Cash, from dozens of public figures that were influenced by Cash. You can truly see the far-reaching affects of his life and ministry.
