Book Review: A strange collection of psychiatric oddities.

This book is brilliant bog time reading!! A collection of short, yet amusing, accounts of Dr Sacks' (of "Awakenings" fame - Robin Williams? Remember it?) most unusual cases. As a medical student all the medical technobabble that sometimes permeates the cases washed over me but i can see it being a tad annoying - but after all it is Psychiatry not jackanory! The bizzare cases include a woman who didn't have any conception of Left even though she was well aware of what right meant, a man who couldn't do anything unless he was singing a special song about it and, of course, the title case. In places this book was a trudge but it was well worth it to get to the gems of strangeness (which served me for hours livening boring conversations in the pub etc..). If you like medical stuff or "strange but true" type stories this is really worth a look.
