Book Reviews of The Master Cleanser: With Special Needs and ProblemsBook Review: AMAZING RESULTS Summary: 5 Stars
If you're looking for a guide that's going to show you the "perfect diet", you can contiue looking. Stanley Burroughs effectively instructs us on how to cleanse and purify our bodies without using harmful and otherwise toxic chemicals and supplements. For me the Master Cleanser worked exactly as he claims it will in the book. Not only did I cleanse my entire system, and start feeling more alive than I ever have, but my focus became more clear, my skin appeared healthier and as an added bonus I lost more weight in 35 days, than I have lost in a year. I'm one of the biggest skeptics around and everything is a scam to me, however The Master Cleanse is true to it's word. Such a small book packs a wallop with the life changing/saving information that it contains. At the very least, if you follow the plan you will detoxify your system and if you're lucky, like me, you'll shed some unwanted pounds from the fat being burned away by your newly super charged system! I highly recommend that everyone pick up this book. It will change how you think, eat and look at diet plans.

Book Review: Absolutely Brilliant Summary: 5 Stars
My first Master Cleanse lasted 60 days. At some point, it was as if my body went into hibernation. I didn't need food (I wanted it, but only psychologically), and I felt great. In fact, due to running injuries I had sustained years before, I hadn't been able to run consistently in nearly eight years. After Day 12, I ran 12 days in-a-row, working my way up to over 10-mile runs back-to-back. For other reasons, I stopped running until Day 49, at which point, I resumed 7 and 10 mile runs all through Day 60. I have done three additional Master Cleanses since: 20 days, 23 days, and I'm currently on Day 42 of a cleanse of unknown duration.
While other people report breakthroughs after just a few days -- and certainly within the 10-day prescribed period -- I haven't really started to feel clearer and lighter until after Day 35. Thus, for two of my cleanses, I never reached that sweet-spot.
Each cleanse is essentially easy if you stick to the instructions. Do the Salt Water Flush. Drink the Senna Tea at night. Prepare the lemonade according to Burroughs' directions, and don't skimp or splurge on the Grade B Maple Syrup. While the recipe calls for a 1:1 ratio between lemon juice and maple syrup, Burroughs allows a 2:1 ratio for weight loss (or what he calls a "reducing diet"). I prefer the taste of the 2:1 ratio, as it's not as sweet, though it doesn't accelerate weight loss for me. Anything less than a 2:1 ratio makes me feel weak. Ergo, Burroughs knows. Listen to his wisdom.
I don't care what anyone says. My father is a well-known doctor and initially poo-pooed the Master Cleanse when I told him I was doing it. After he observed the results, he went on it himself and advised his patients to do the same! The Master Cleanse is easy to follow, easy on the body, has tremendous results, and makes me feel great. I absolutely love the Master Cleanse, and imagine I will continue to do it for the rest of my life.
The book is short and an easy read. I'd recommend getting it prior to starting any cleanse. Even though the recipe and chat rooms are readily available, there is nothing quite like the calming effect of its creator when one seeks guidance during the cleanse itself. I mean, if one were having surgery, would one rather be reassured by the doctor or by some internet site? There are a couple other Master Cleanse books -- one by Peter Glickman and one by Tom Woloshyn -- which I've also purchased. They do not replace Burroughs' book, but rather supplement it. Of the two, I've found Woloshyn's book more interesting, as Glickman's book is mostly a reprint of posts to his website. Still, during these prolonged cleanses, I often look to each of the books for comfort, as I know there are other people who have endured and benefitted from the curative and restorative properties of this truly masterful cleanse.
Book Review: An "OLD DOG" with a New Trick Summary: 5 Stars
I'm 44 and 15 months off of a 30 year smoking habit. A friend turned me on to the Master Cleanse and after 15 days into it I felt so good I decided to go 30 days. I've lost 30lbs and 11" overall. I sleep much better, my skin looks and feels younger, no more heartburn and my joints feel great. I plan to make the Master Cleanse a regular part of my life. Lori Deen, Fresno,CA
Book Review: At $6.50, the only thing you can lose is your extra weight Summary: 5 Stars
The Fast
I have had overwhelmingly positive results with the Master Cleanser. I've done it three times and each time I lost between ten to fifteen pounds. While one never knows for certain, it seems to efficiently detox my body. While I always miss the ritual of eating, I have never been hungry on the diet. I feel great during most of the fasts. I do the salt cleanse portion on days when I know that a toilet will be nearby. I highly recommend the Lemonade Diet (as it is also known) to anybody looking to lose weight. Since the books are so inexpensive, I keep extra copies to hand out to anybody who expresses interest. Despite my experiences, I know just as many people who couldn't do the diet as those who swear by it. For some reason, the Master Cleanser just doesn't work with everybody. Given my involvement, I'm at a loss to explain why it doesn't work for some folks. The only way that you can know if it's right for you is by actually doing the fast.
The Book
Since the actual recipe can be found online, the potential faster has to wonder if it is worth purchasing the book. I highly recommend the book. The first time I did the fast, it was an unsettling experience into an internal frontier. Stanley Burroughs explained the diet in a way that ensured comfort and affirmation that I was doing the right thing and not going to harm myself. After all, the practice of drinking nothing but lemonade with maple syrup and cayenne pepper fails the common sense test. The booklet is short and easy to read. It contains a good deal of background information and general data on nutrition. While most of this does not directly apply to the fast, it is interesting. Some of the content is clearly outdated, but don't let that scare you away, the Master Cleanser does work. The Amazon reviews were a significant inspiration for me to do the cleanse, so I'm happy to share my experience with other potential fasters.
