Book Reviews of The Mork and Mindy Story

Book Review: A pleasant reminder of past hilarity
Summary: 5 Stars

Other than news programs, I am not a watcher of network television. Nearly two generations of popular shows have come and gone where I have never seen a single episode. For example, I have never seen an episode of "The Cosby Show", "Alf", Hill Street Blues", "Cheers", "The Simpsons", or "Friends."
However, back in the seventies, I was watching an episode of "Happy Days" and it was the one where Robin Williams made his first appearance as "Mork from Ork." To date, it is the funniest thing I have ever seen. I literally laughed so hard I fell out of my chair and had a difficult time breathing. Therefore, I was pleased when the "Mork and Mindy" show appeared. At least in the first season before they toned the character of Mork down, it was the funniest show ever on television.
This book was a trip back to those times, when Robin Williams and Pam Dawber were the best comedy team on television. She was the perfect straight woman to Williams and a significant break from the past "Gracie Allen" or "Edith Bunker" type characters whose main purpose was to act perpetually dizzy. Dawber played an intelligent woman involved in the world and concerned about Mork without being romantically involved. The book was a nice reminder that it is possible for comedy to be hilarious without being degenerate.
