Book Review: AWESOME book!
Summary: 5 Stars
The last review is insane! This book and all of the recipes in it are awesome, and much more complicated than simply replacing high fat ingredients with their lower fat counterparts! I really doubt that many people could come up with a low-fat jambalaya or flourless chocolate cake all on their own.
Its true that a lot of the desserts substitute applesauce for the fat - and many vegan recipes do make the same substitution. The big difference I've come across between Devin Alexander's dessert recipes and those I have found at vegan websites and various other food blogs is that Devin's desserts taste AMAZING! The brownies in her book are the best brownies I've ever had...seriously, I haven't eaten a full fat brownie since making these. I've served them at dinner parties and given them away as gifts - I always get similar responses from everyone who tastes them.
This is a great book for anyone and everyone who wants to enjoy eating great, healthy food - whether they are a novice cook or professional chef. The fifty or so people who gave the book 5 stars know what they're talking about and I can't wait to see another book from her!
