Book Review: A sheer delight to read

Like so many, I watched The Munsters on TV for the first time when I was a kid. The odd thing was that I watched them late at night with my parents on a German TV channel that showed this show in its original: not dubbed into German, but with subtitles. The memories of the joy we had watching every single episode are still with me. Watching the show scores of years later on DVD shows just how good the show was and still is.
Having said that, I have to admit that at first I was reluctant to buy this book as I am not exactly what you would call a fan (i.e. someone who has to buy books, T-shirts, posters, and what have you of his favorite band, actor, etc.) This book, however, was more than I had bargained for: it definitely is a must-have for anyone who has enjoyed watching this show. Beyond the usual collection of photographs, interviews, and so forth, it also gives you a well-written insight into the series' arduous productions, its original inventors, the cast's life before and after The Munsters, and the effect it had on the actors' careers. Having read this book I sympathize with the late Fred Gwynne, who would be forever identified with Herman Munster - very much like Phil Silvers and Sgt. Bilko.
Thank you, Stephen Cox, this book will not stay put in my bookcase but will be read and enjoyed over and over again.
