Book Reviews of The Neon BibleBook Review: Excellent mix of comedy/tragedy Summary: 4 Stars
The Neon Bible is one of the few works we have by Toole, and while by no means a masterpiece, is a very good book. I make no claim to be a Toole scholar, but htis books leaves me with the impression that his life was troubled since age 16. We can only wish that his lives end had not come so soon, so as he could still be among us cranking out books like this and "Confederacy"
Book Review: Genius Too Young Summary: 5 Stars
That the 16 y.o. John Kennedy Toole could have written a novel with this level of human insight is...frightening. Yes, the story though entertaining is necessarily imperfect. More important, though, is that fact that a boy who was little more than a child had such deep understanding of the human condition. He understands things about us that few people many times his age understand. It's almost as if he knew something...knew too much...and his knowledge killed him.

Book Review: Insightful and sad. Summary: 4 Stars
I was thrilled to find out that there was another novel in existence by the author of the funniest book ever written, Confederacy of Dunces. While this book is as insightful as Confederacy, it is sad, not funny, so don't expect the belly-laughs you got from Confederacy. But you should not skip this book either because even at 16, when Toole wrote this book, he was a great writer with even greater potential. It was a tragedy not just for him that he took his own life, but for us as readers.
Book Review: Love this book Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great book! It's not very long so its the kind of book you'll pick up and get really into and finish in a couple days.
Book Review: Not related to The Arcade Fire Summary: 5 Stars
If you're an Arcade Fire fan and are buying this book, keep in mind that the band itself has stated that this book has nothing to do with their album Neon Bible.
