Book Review: 60 Masterpieces in Superb Annotation

Leslie Klinger's annotations are timeless. Over the years I've reread my favorite stories in the Holmes canon and no one explains them better than Leslie Klinger's cross-referenced insights. They tie themes and characters together with great precision. His explanations help reinforce the notion that Holmes was a real person ("the greatest detective who never lived"). The result is that I'm always in for endless hours of enjoyable reading. Holmes is in love with facts and data to satisfy his restless mind. They are his building blocks and Klinger's annotations connect the dots to make "detection as near to an exact science as it ever will be brought in this world" (a cross reference to A Study in Scarlet).
