Book Review: A Step Backwards - Not New Info and Not Complete

Its not really new and NOT complete.
I really wanted to like this book. I had the earlier version and was looking forward to this update. Yes, lots of new fancy glossy photos but the information is the same, just less. In fact, content wise, the book appears to be dumbed down from the prior version. Its way shorter.
As other reviewers have said, its now VERY basic. I would recommend it for a newer woodworker getting his or her first 14" generic Delta/Jet/Griz.
If you are experienced with bandsaws and have a more sophisticated saw, like a Minimax, Lagauna, or other steel frame, the book is not for you.
Lastly, Mark Duginski's makes the book into a too much of a commerical for his products, Cool Blocks and the Kreg Jig.
In his list of sources, he purposely leaves out Louis Iturra, considered by most as one of the most knowledgeable men on bandsaws anywhere. Mark thinks his Cool Blocks are the best thing since sliced bread, and Louis does not agree.
Stick with the older version if you have it. The Bandsaw Book by Lonnie Bird is good.
Only get this book if you have no clue how to operate a 14" Taiwanese bandsaw and need a sound covering of the basics. I agree with another reviewer, its like the operators manual.
