Book Review: Warm supernatural Regency romance

The oldest of twins, Lance St. Leger hates the idea that one day he will inherit Castle Leger, the ancestral home of his strange family. After fighting during the Napoleonic Wars, Lance returns to his Cornwall roots, but feels out of sorts. However, his restless soul suddenly has a mission when assailants attack a drunk Lance and relieve him of an heirloom, a sword allegedly having mystical powers. Lance searches for the sword, using his own ability to separate his soul from his body.

This leads him to a visitor, Lady Rosalind Carlyon, who mistakenly believes Lance's traveling soul is the ghost of the legendary Sir Lancelot. To their amazement, Rosalind and Lance are immediately attracted to one another. The next day, the Bride Finder, the eccentric (some will say lunatic) Elfreda Fitzleger informs Lance that she found his bride in Rosalind. However, the young widow has found her love in a ghost, leaving Lance to wonder how his corporal self could fall so short of the mark set by his spectral self. Still, an enemy exists who will do anything to destroy the Leger legacy.

Susan Carroll has written a strange but warm supernatural Regency romance that will hook readers like its predecessor, the best selling THE BRIDE FINDER. The story line is humorous, tense and filled with action because the St. Leger powers blend well into the plot. The characters are all defined and even the villain realistiscally garners empathy. Ms. Carroll takes her readers to a story wonderland where the Regency is read through a clever looking glass.
