Book Review: A different type of sorcery

This book is about a raven named Jake and a fat cat named Mercutio who have to save the animal kingdom and the rest of the world from a duo of an evil sorcerer and sorceress on New Year's eve. Beezelbub Prospector and Aunt Vampirella have to destroy the world by midnight or the devil will "foreclose" on them since they haven't comitted the proper number of evil acts during the course of the year. So, they are attempting to concoct the famous, but elusive Satanarcheohellish Notion Potion that gives the drinker the opposite of whatever they wish for. (If one says "I want to clean the oceans" they would instead become amazingly poluted). I am a huge Michael Ende fan, but somehow, this book, while is good when compared with ordinary other books, was not as wonderfully amazing as the four other Ende books I've been lucky enough to find (Neverending story, Momo, Mirror in the Mirror and Ophelia's Shadow Theatre). Perhaps this is due to the translation from German into English, I'm not sure, but it just didn't seem to meld together like his other books do.
