Book Review: Seriously underwhelming

With the way the book's back cover and other ads talk about it you would think this was a definitive resource of all the cool cars and places of the movie. Well simply put it's not. This is an incredibly thin book that is just as thin on information as it is in pages.
The book is mostly fluff. Mostly information you will find by watching the movie. You get quick synopsis of the three main races in the movie. No details on the history of the tracks or their technical aspects. You get some pictures and general information on only three cars. You get tons more technical information on the vehicles from the special features on the Blu-Ray release. The only somewhat useful information you get on the vehicles is the button functions on the Mach 5. That's all.
All that's left are some character profiles, a little tidbit on Royalton Industries, all things that you already know if you seen the movie. The only thing this book is good for is for the kids who just want to the surface information it gives and there are also a couple pages of neat profile pics of the main cars. That's it.
Considering the incredible amount of detail they put into the movie and what they divulged in the video releases you would think it would be a no-brainer to make a comprehensive technical book. Well this isn't it. If that's what you're looking for then keep looking. If you have a kid who loves the movie then maybe, maybe this book will be worth getting for them if you can get it cheap.
