Book Review: Redemption
Summary: 5 Stars
This is what I'm talking about with Jacquelin Thomas. She'd redeemed herself with this story vs. her novel, "Redemption," which wasn't very good.
Pastor Wade was the new preacher at Lakeview Baptist, single and goodlooking. So naturally, the single ladies wanted him to put a ring on it. But he only had eyes for the choir-vocalist, Pearl. Wade really wanted the standard classic "first lady," but with Miss Pearl, he knew he'd get the opposite. But he let it roll off like water because he knew in his heart that she was the one for him.
Pearl, sassy and independent, knew what she wanted. And that was to be a famous singer. She was blessed with pipes and wanted to share them with the world. When she first met Wade, she thought he was chauvinistic with primitive values. He wasn't shy about communicating how a woman should dress and carry herself. But to Pearl, it was offensive. She'd overlook it for now because he was a goodlooking, sexy, bald, chocolate kiss, but definitely not her type in his oldfashioned way of thinking.
Pearl's matchmaking sister thought Wade was a great catch for her and with much convincing, she finally gave in and went on a date with him which turned in to two, three, ten dates. In between their relationship, situations arose, past lifestyles caught up with them and almost caused permanent damage, but Wade knew what he had to do in order to have it mended back together.
This was a fantastic story and I look forward to reading more like this one from this gifted storyteller.
