Book Reviews of The Phantom Returns

Book Review: Similar but Different
Summary: 1 Stars

I just finished reading this story and although it is different it is so similar to another book I read last year. Coincidences do happen but this one just seems to be so close plot wise to the other book. Very strange.

Book Review: Stays True to Beloved Characters
Summary: 5 Stars

From the first page, I knew I would like this book. She keeps the characters in true form and does not detract from them, unlike another book I read that was a sado/masochistic nightmare that distorted every character into something grotesque.
This books satisfies the need for closure to the story, until Andrew Lloyd Webber finishes his follow up.
I really enjoyed it, it was romantic and I would say even for teens a good read without heavy sexual passages.
Brava Stefanie! Well done.

Book Review: Sweet Story
Summary: 5 Stars

I really enjoyed this book. It was a sweet story of Erik and Christine.
After she marries Raoul, Christine realizes she loves Erik.
They go through Hell and Half of Texas to be together.
Finally they are.
Raoul ends up doing fine.
Meg and Madame Giry are also highly featured in this book.
It is a wonderful story for all Phantom Phans.
Especially those who wished Christine had stayed with Erik.

Book Review: The Eternal Triangle.
Summary: 4 Stars

Initially I was distracted by a couple of facts that were jarring my subconcious as I read this novel, so I had to stop and leave it for a while then continue.
The contact with Erik came too early in the marriage for me
to get totally onboard with the idea that Christine had become
so dissillusioned with her life and Raoul. It also took me a while to warm to the 'Earl of Chester' theme, but it was a necessary contrivence for the plot.
(Also the journey across the continents would have taken years not months..... Russia then Ireland).
I read on after a while and I am very pleased I did so, for taken
as a continuum from the ending of the 2004 movie the strong sense of character remained.
I could, with imagery, follow the destruction of the once 'fairy tale' life with Raoul and witness the triumphant Erik claim his 'bride' at long last.
A must have book for Phantom fans, it's a novel that will give pleasure to many readers. Well done Ms Cole.

Book Review: The Phantom Returns is a perfect addition to my Phantom collection.
Summary: 5 Stars

First of all I found this to be the best Phantom book I've ever read. I thoroughly enjoyed every fast paced moment of it. My heart ached with Erik's; I could identify with Christine's anguish and at times both hated and pitied Raoul. Build up of suspense had me on the edge of my seat the whole time and the ride thrilled me to no end. I don't give praise freely and I never give it unless well deserved and this deserved more than I could ever express.

I love the part in the beginning when Ducray interrupts Erik poor display of temper and offers him the ugly vase to brake when he runs out of things in his room. It had subtle humor with an excellent execution. Brava!

The description of Raoul in the flash of lightening along with the entire disagreement between him and Christine during the storm had me terrified of the young Vicomte. Well done!

I loved the whole Earl of Chester thing; clever idea. The challenges seemed realistic and made for a good ride to a happy ending.

I wanted Raoul to just give his wife a divorce, but I see his point and understand why he staged an elaborate scene. Good job!

Any Phantom lover will love this book as I do. Perfect addition to my Phantom of the Opera collection.
