Freeman's book is a brilliant piece of work on composition and developing how to see and approach a subject photographically. He covers areas like: framing, cropping, rhythms, texture, content, and then gets into photographic elements.
There is a lot of great work in this book - and for a serious beginner and intermediate photographer there are a lot of tips you will grab. I appreciate the art all the way through, and the content of many images are beyond the average shot of average Joe civilian. Many wonderful models to aspire to. For such an audience this is a 5 star plus book.
If I had to criticize anything I would say that images, on many occasions, could be sharper - focus wise. Fortunately the content of such images excuses this, for the most part, and it reminds us that focus is such a critical element when shooting. An element even published photographers have issues with.
Would be a nice course book for introductory photography - and welcome on the shelf of any photographer's book case. Would not hesitate ordering this.
