Book Review: Brilliant basis for a new body

I bought this book after realising that the 16 reps of bicep curls that had become my norm was probably to blame for the bulk, when all I wanted was the taut length of dancer's muscles. This book is a prime introduction to Pilates, a 100 year old technique that does just that; using ballet postures combined with lengthening movements, Pilates is a subtle way to tone up in a bulk-free way. The blurb on the back says 'you'll feel the difference in 10 sessions, see it in 20 and have a whole new body in 30.' I haven't quite reached the 30, but it does have a definite effect on your body. It also flattens your stomach by the killer instruction to 'scoop your belly in.' Imagine holding your stomach in; do that for 20 minutes and a Kate Moss waist is soon yours! One star is docked due to the pictures - although inspirational, they do lack definite instruction
