Book Review: Undoubtedly the best book I have ever read.

This book was recommended to me by a friend, I borrowed his rather tatty paper back copy and couldn't put it down. I have read it 3 times since and just had to have it in hardback for future generations of my family to read.Not only is this a journey through medieval England and Europe it is a journey through every human emotion. Entertaining, Interesting, educational, emotional and ultimately a compelling read.

Put quite simply, this is the best book I have ever read! Superb characters and a thrilling storyline combine to make an absorbing and engrossing epic. From the opening address through to its storming conclusion, the reader is drawn in to its subtle twists and tales. A real page-turner if ever there was, Pillars of the Earth tackles deception, greed, love and loyalty with a fantastic combination of prose and style. I have re-read it three times, and every time I am left totally fulfilled and enriched. This is one book you won't want to lend out! Believe me, you won't get it back!Book Review: Gripping! Little I knew that the day I started reading the Pillars of The Earth would be the last day of my social life for two weeks. I spent the day looking forward to leaving work and continuing reading it; I read until early hours in the morning loosing sleep; I decided not to go out in the evenings because I just wanted to read another page, another chapter... I simply could not put it down. It is gripping, passionate and emotional at the same time. I was even sad when I had to go back to reality and to the 21st century! By far the best book Ken Follet has written so far. I thoroughly recommend it!

Follet's "Pillars of the Earth", is absolutely one of the most fantastic books I ( and now most of my friends and family) have read. It will send you back to the period and involve you entirely in the lives and passions of all the characters. His attention to detail makes it stand apart from others of the genre and you come away not only having read a brilliant story but with a new interest in medieval masonry!
