Book Reviews of The Pocket MuseBook Review: A good time Summary: 4 Stars
This book is good if you just need a writing exercise. I find it very useful when I have writers block. I can just flip through it and usually write about something completely off-topic, but it help me to clear my mind and relax. It's a good fun book.
Book Review: A kickstart for writers and other creatives Summary: 4 Stars
Words, pictures, words on pictures, silly pictures, deep pictures, pictures of animals, buildings, people, typed words, hand-written words, words in chalk, and written advice and insights all add up to a great book of starting points for writers and others who need that little nudge to get started.
I don't know if it truly related to me or not, but when I opened the book to just a page in the middle it read: Today's Horoscope - a dull person suddenly becomes interesting.
No matter what page you flip to, "The Pocket Muse" provides something to write about. Perhaps even paint or design.
Monica's book is not your normal prompt book where she creates a scene and you go from there. The prompts are short. Single sentences. Simple images. Everyday stuff.
Get the book. Get to writing.
Book Review: A(muse)ingly inspiring! Summary: 5 Stars
A(muse)ingly inspiring collection of prompts, and advice to free your creativity.
A fun to read book with suggestions that I plan to try, in the coming year, to spur my own writing.
Book Review: Great expectations! Summary: 4 Stars
Such an awesome and inspiring book to get the creative juices flowing and get you writing! I love that it is written as a "novel" per say, it is however written as short inspirational quotes. It's very easy to carry this along with you and you could literally flip through it and pick any page for a dose of inspiration for your writing.
Buy this book! You won't be sorry.
Book Review: Great little book to get you started Summary: 5 Stars
The main goal of this neat little volume is simply to get you writing. It does have a few pieces of advice to improve your writing, but it is essentially a collection of highly original, fun and quirky writing prompts. It's the kind of book you can pick up and open to any page at random, as every pair of pages holds a completely separate exercise from the last. What you'll find from page to page varies wildly, from anecdotes, to advice on editing your own work or getting out of a rut, to interesting and inspiring photographs. A fun book for anything from journaling to someone hoping to get published. Would make a great gift, too!
