Book Review: Not much use to British cooks
Summary: 1 Stars
While this book is very thorough and well written it is of very little use to the British cook. It is written purely for use in the American kitchen. The measurements, terminology and even some of the ingredients are unique to the USA and as there is no equivalents chart I don't understand why it is being sold outside of the USA/Canada market. I lived in the USA for 6 years and you quickly become aware that their measurements are different to ours. For instance a British pint is bigger than a US pint. The pressure cookers sold in the UK are sized mostly in litres, in the US they are sized in quarts. We don't use cup measurements here as a rule and converting every recipe is just a chore you can do without. Risking substituting ingredients could well ruin recipes. I cannot recommend this book to any British housewife that wants to familiarise herself with and enjoy pressure cooking.
