Book Reviews of The Princess Bride (Ballantine Reader's Circle)

Book Review: I feel bereft having finished it.
Summary: 5 Stars

As a fan of the film, I had been meaning to read this for years. The experience was like visiting with beloved old friends and finally learning all about them.

My God what a treat this book is. Hilarious, but capable of bringing you to tears, Goldman is a master. (Or should that be wizard?)

Wonderful characters, great suspense, and the authors tongue firmly in his cheek throughout.

I really loved the first chapter of the sequel at the end, I hope he completes it, I want more!

Book Review: Re-Re-Re-Readable
Summary: 5 Stars

This is my all time favorite book. Its a none stop adventure which covers everyones tastes without getting boring. Extremly funny all the way through on many levels. As it say on the blurb it contains "Fencing. Fighting. Torture. Poison. True love. Hate. Revenge. Giants. Hunters. Bad men. Good men. Beautifulest ladies. Snakes. Spiders. Beasts of all natures and descriptions. Pain. Death. Brave men. Coward men. Strongest men. Chases. Escapes. Lies. Truths. Passion. Miracles." and so much more. I've easily read this book 100 times and its still not boring, i've willed bus journeys to last that little bit longer so I could continue reading.

Its amazing, but beware once you start you wont be able to put the book down till its finished!

Book Review: Absolutely Great
Summary: 5 Stars

What a fantstic read! I have loved the film for so many years and was delighted when I got this book as a present, and read it in a couple of days! For those who have seen the film then you'll know all the chararcter and what happens, but there is loads of stuff they left out of the film so read it! For those of you that haven't seen the film, the story is of Buttercup and Westley who fall in love. But Westley goes missing and is believed dead, Buttercup is then about to marry Prince Humperdinck (the Villian). But this is a fairy story so can Westley really be dead? ANd will the lovely Buttercup really have to marry the horrible Humperdinck? Filled with action and brilliant comedy from start to finish. You'll not be dissapointed! Once you've read the book check out the film.
P.S. This is a book to read over and over again.

Book Review: How stupid do I feel
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is fantastic it adds to what you know of the film and is one of the only books that works as a film without cutting lots of bits. Mr Golding is a beautiful writer and this book will not disappoint. I bought this for a friend and warned her about the introduction I have since learned though that this "intro", and the frequent asides, are as much a part of the book as the fantasy love/death and sword play.
After reading this I did think it odd that I'd never heard of a real fire swamp in Florin (my Geography is rubbish) and that it was cool he knew Steven King.
All I can say is read EVERYTHING in this book -don't skip!!- and when you've finished search the internet for the infamous S.Morgenstern, if you don't feel as silly as the rest of us then you're cleverer then nearly everyone I know. Read this to your kids before letting them watch the film though as the suspense will be better.

Book Review: The Princess Bride - Pure Genious
Summary: 5 Stars

I first heard of The Princess bride when my older friend offered to lend me the film. I wasn't very sure to whether I wanted to see it. However he brought it along. The Video's cover was extremely informative and when I read what the film was like I watched it that very night. I became hooked! I loved it so much I watched it again. I must have watched it 40 times in the past year or so. In the credits I saw that the film was based on the Book by William Goldman. I immediateley looked it up on the internet and found out about the book. I was soon looking around the Book shops trying to find it. I'm so glad I did. The book is so much better than the film. It has everything anyone could want to read about. I have read it at least 10 times in half a year. William Goldman is inspired. With true love, monsters, hatred, Beautifulest Ladies, Beasts, Escapes, Fencing, Pain, Death and much more, it is certainly a book that you will never be able to put down!!!
