Book Review: Review of Seekers: The Quest Begins

Being a Warrior Cats fan, I naturally HAD to check out Erin Hunter's new bear series, and blew most of my Christmas money on it. It was worth it anyway.
The Quest Begins is a beautifully written book, and I love the way all the bear species have their own folklore, which is still similar. Erin Hunter manages to take reality [I can see there has been a lot of research here] and turn it into amazing, page turning fiction. One thing I love about Erin Hunter's books is that they deal with issues such as abandonment, and orphaning, using animals rather than people. Every Erin Hunter book has death in it, giving the book a bittersweetness that means it isn't so dull as, say, a fairy tale.
However, there are a few downsides to the book that I couldn't help but pick up on. Erin Hunter's books make me BELIEVE the story, I can actually imagine cats running around saying the stars are their ancestors and stuff. But I CANNOT imagine a bear that can turn into other animals. Nope. THese books are not fantasy, so this character shouldn't be there! SO, I only give the book four out of five, for that reason, although overall it was a fabulous read.
