Book Reviews of The QuickieBook Review: frustrating book Summary: 3 Stars
While reading the book, The Quickie by James Patterson there were several times I wanted to scream at the "heroine" of the story. The Quickie is about a cop with the NYPD, Lauren who upon thinking her husband is having an affair decides to have her own "quickie" with a fellow cop. Her affair turns into a nightmare when her husband Paul kills her lover. Lauren than risks her career, marriage, and freedom to protect her husband. The story has many twists and turns through the second half of the novel. My main problem with the book is that Lauren never confronts her husband about anything (the murder/the affair) she is just blindly putting everything on the line. However, everytime it looks like trouble for Lauren her friends let her get away with whatever the conflict is at the moment. The book has a twist in the final chapters that really manages to ruin the book for me. The book could've been redeemed, but instead a character's personality and motives are totally twisted and you lose sympathy for that person. The book was quick and easy to read due to the short chapters and did keep you reading, but the ending was a big disappointment for me.
