Book Review: What a great book!!

I loved this book. I laughed out loud. I cried. And I didn't want it to end. The bad guys lose and the good guys win. And the book is peppered with funny lines. I even thought the author was funny for mentioning her escaped hamster. This book is a great escape.Book Review: What an amazing debut! An ABSOLUTE keeper!

This is a gloriously well-written love story, with such original characters, wonderful dialog and plot, and mm-mm-good love scenes that it's hard to believe it's Elizabeth Hoyt's first book! (I am not implying in any way that it's NOT her work!! I am saying that it's just plain amazing; but I've read other superb debuts in the past, and we all know it can and does happen!)
I love Regency romances, but I'm terribly picky, and don't have all that many 'keepers' on my shelf. This is a DEFINITE KEEPER. I will be reading it, enjoying it, and savoring it for many years to come. Got it via a romance book club on a whim, and wow, am I ever glad I did!

I loved this book ... and I devour romance novels ... the characters were great, perhaps the male protagonist was a tad too insecure about his marked face and body; however, I would be too, so perhaps that is justifiable. Hoyt is one of my favorite romance authors ... although not all her works are as captivating as this one ... but I still buy everything she comes out with ... It is a great read ... My review is probably worthless since so many other people have exclaimed their love for this book but I had to chime in! I haven't stumbled across a historical romance that engrossed me and enchanted me in such a long time that The Raven Prince is a breath of fresh air into the genre. I hesitate to compare authors to each other because they each have their own individual merits, but I'd say Hoyt writes romances in the vein of Liz Carlyle and Jane Feather. If you're looking for a very sensual and romantic historical that features well-drawn and unique characters, The Raven Prince is it! I had perused the back cover of the Raven Prince several times before finally picking it up, and I have to say that I wish I'd given in months ago!
Edward de Raaf, Earl of Swartingham, is in need of a secretary. Anna Wren is in need of a job. Used to getting his way by growling and intimidating people with his smallpox-ravaged face, Edward is impressed and reluctantly admiring of his new secretary's pluck. Anna sees behind the scarred visage to a man she desires very much, and his overly abrupt personality is in no way a deterrent to her. However, knowing that he could never ask Anna for what he truly desires, Edward seeks out Aphrodite's Grotto, a London house of Venus. Little does he know the woman he meets there is none other than his beguiling secretary, who has set her own seduction into motion. After returning home, Edward is dismayed to find that his vastly fulfilling trip to the city has done little to sate his lust for the widow Wren. I won't spoil the rest of the story, because Ms. Hoyt tells it far more beautifully than I could in 300 words.
Do yourself a favor and read this book! It's by far the best I've picked up in the last few months, and will leave you sighing over the emotion and panting over the heat.
