Book Review: Waste of Time

First, a bit about how I found out about the book. I attended a free talk by someone trained by Eric Pearl to be a Reconnection Practitioner. She spoke about her personal experience being healed by him from a serious illness (back when he was still doing that) and then deciding to become a Reconnection Practitioner to help others. I believe her to be a sincere and honest person. I met some of the people healed of serious illness by this particular Practitioner. I got this book after my first session with the Reconnection Practitioner because I wanted to learn more about it. I don't have any serious illness myself and all I can tell you is after the session I felt slightly different (no thunderbolts!) just a gentle energy lift and a more positive frame of mind. Eric Pearl does not promise that reading his book will give you The Reconnection, but does not rule out the possibility of this happening. He does explain techniques for working with energy in the second half of the book. The first half of the book is basically his life story. If you want to be a Practitioner you have to go through the training just like Reiki or any other modality. I have had some training with other types of energy work (Reiki, etc.) and I believe it all comes from the same source of Universal Energy. (It's all good!) I use parts of everything I have learned in a way that best fits me and get results. I have not attended any of his seminars but have felt a "boost" in my energy since having this work done on me. I am a Massage Therapist and have had some interesting results with clients too.
I plan on attending his next seminar in this area.

Fantastic book! After hearing Richard speak on a teleseminar, I knew I had to know more about this. I've now had Reconnective healing done and am about to go through the Reconnection. The book explains everything that is known about this. It's quite different from anything else I've experienced, and it's nice to know the energy is still working in my body.Book Review: a must read for the spiritually inclined

I figure there are two types of new age healing books; those ones that whet your appetite for the modality and you have to attend a workshop, and those who show you how to start, even though a workshop would be the better option when you get around to it.
This is the former. You need to be 'reconnected' to the grid lines and pay your $333 to do so before the power of the reconnection comes coursing through you. Yes, I found the book to be interesting, greatly biographical but interesting. The degree to which he discounts the rituals and hand waving of such healing as Reiki and Pranic Healing disconcerts me. There's more than one reconnective way to skin a cat, Eric. The passive nature of Reconnective Healing (laying on of hands, similar to Reiki) may be effective with some practitioners who have aptitude, but others who wave their hands around and chant often get some pretty impressive results as well.
So, we in the nether regions of the world have to wait to be reconnected when the next seminar rocks around. It's a pity that this modality relies on an attunement in order to practice. And ironic considering that Pearl spends a bit of time pooh-poohing those modalities that rely on chants or invocations or symbols to create the healing that they achieve. I have to rely on the next seminar and my personal reconnection before I get a crack at those energies.
BTW, I think all these healing energies are the same. My zucchini is your courgette.
