We recently had a book review at our Temple by the Rabbi. This event was well attended and there was not a person there who did not enjoy this book. The book has some interesting twists and turns. The book is well written, easy to read. The story is thought provoking and may give you new insight and a new vision of Women's roles in Biblical times. Diamant's interpretation of what might have been relates well to areas of the Bible,that are extremely limited in explanation relating to women. Focus on the message of what really is the spiritual and symbolic meaning of The Red Tent. Read it...you will like it....If you are a Biblical Scholar and not open- minded then find another book.Book Review: wonderful story

I am writing this in response to the woman who said she was dissapointed in how far the story deviated from the Bible's account. It is true that it is very different, but it is a novel based on about one paragraph in the Bible. You should read this book as an unique story about culture in biblical times not as an expansion on a Bible story. I loved reading about how women lived thousands of years ago though I agree that it was slightly irritating that Jacob is portrayed as kind of a jerk and his son's as demons.Book Review: wonderful!

i must admit to being agnostic and shamefully ignorant of the bible, and was afraid this novel would be beyond me. not so. this is a novel i would recommend to anyone, and have already! it is breathtaking. thank you, ms. diamant!Book Review: wonderful!

a very good book. i was hesitant to read it, but because i was uninterested in the other book i borrowed from the library, i decided to try this one instead. i couldn't put it down. i completed it this weekend and wish now i had read it more slowly so i could enjoy it for a longer period of time.
