As Josh Ryder was photographing a security guard arguing with a young mother while on assignment in Rome, a bomb explodes and shatters his world. While recovering from the incident, he begins having vivid flashback-type visions---of ancient Rome. When the medical community cannot find the reason for his visions he turns to the Phoenix Foundation, an organization that researches the validity of reincarnation.
It is while with the Phoenix Foundation that he returns to Rome seeking answers. There he meets with archeologist Gabriella Chase, who has found a tomb containing the body of an ancient woman and a secret that must be protected. He doesn't understand how or why, but he's connected to the dead woman in the tomb and even knows her name. Sabina.
Past and present lives blur together and the danger of yesterday becomes the danger of today. Does Josh trust those that he believes were in his past life? Are they here now to make amends or to repeat the same transgressions all over again?
M.J. Rose delivers; The Reincarnationist is an absolutely riveting read! Back and forth across the centuries, past and present characters reveal their conflicts. I found myself holding my breath hoping they'd not give in to the temptation to repeat history and would instead resolve past issues in their present lives. Whether one believes in reincarnation or not, this book sure makes you think and will have you ruminating long after the last page has been turned.
