Book Reviews of The Rise, Corruption and Coming Fall of the House of Saud

Book Review: A Saudi American perspective
Summary: 1 Stars

I will be honest, I have not read the book but I have a feeling I already know what he's written. I'm Saudi on my father's side, from a respected, old family and my Grandfather was an Imam known through out the kingdom, but my father was a self made man and my mother is an American of European descent. I have grown up with two perspectives, and while I admit there are many problems in Arabia, I think the author has not shown a fair and objective view of the country. If you want to buy this book to gain a clearer view of the nation called Saudi Arabia, there are much better books out there, many written by Westerners, that I feel will give a clearer picture than one written by a bitter extremist. It is also important to realize that it is unrealistic to expect any national government to be totally blameless, even Camelot was destroyed, and for all that's wrong with the Saudi government Saudis do not pay taxes, schooling is free through college for all who live within the nation regardless of their nationality and healthcare and agriculture are subsidized. The country is only one hundred years old in the Gregorian calendar, and considering that at that time in American History the great nation of the United States had already faced a civil war, I think Arabia has done relatively well on a whole. The only way to see the truth is to examine both sides of the story, the good as well as the bad.
