Book Reviews of The Road to Wellville

Book Review: Laughfest...
Summary: 5 Stars

To read a novel and be interupted by your own fits of laughter means a good read to me.
The Road to Wellville is one of the funniest novels I have had the pleasure of enjoying.
T C Boyle is brilliant. This author does the math, I mean the research...then spins his creative magic into pure gold.
I find myself thinking about his made up characters blended with the real characters in The Road to Wellville thinking they are ALL the real deal, the sign of success in the fictional world.
As a recent fan of Boyle's darkly humorous work I already know I won't ever be able to get enough of the stuff...keep 'em coming TC!

Book Review: Literature
Summary: 5 Stars

I actually like the movie, but I was floored by the book. Darker and more sinister in tone than the movie, it is also immensly richer. I know that goes in just about every case, but it's especially true here. With this book, I've discovered a contemporary writer who writes not just fiction, but ... dare I say it? ... Literature!

Book Review: Look Out Behind You!
Summary: 4 Stars

This novel is funny and unique. I think TC Boyle is a fantastic author, he has brought me so much enjoyment over the years. The Road to Wellville took me on an extremely entertaining adventure to a time and place I would never have dreamed of. Suspense builds throughout the book and the ending offers resolution and some surprises.

Book Review: Lots of fun
Summary: 5 Stars

In the masterful style that only TC Boyle can do, he sets a story in early 20th century Battle Creek, where Dr. John Harvey Kellogg invited the cornflake, among numerous other health products. A parody of what happens when health-consciousness is taken too far.

Book Review: More Butts!
Summary: 5 Stars

A satire of cornflakes and chimpanzees, "Wellville" flushes out all the waste around health, fitness, wholesome food, and other stuff your mother tried to encourage.

A positively grade-school fascination with body parts and the things they do fuels this romp through the Mid-West. Salt it with some misguided radiation therapy, philandering, and the occasional misapplication of electricity, and it keeps you wondering what comes next.

If you're a member at a gym, or exercise regularly, or wish you did, or laugh at those who do while snarfing potato chips, check this one out.
