Book Reviews of The Rock Says...

Book Review: A great book in its own right
Summary: 4 Stars

After reading Mick Foley's book, I have to say I was really excited to see what kind of effort The Rock would put forward. I was convinced that no one could top Mick's book. I then began to realize that Mick and Rock are totally different men with different experinces, so their books would be different. Knowing that, when I saw The Rock's book, I snatched it up, went home and read it cover to cover.

Overall, I really enjoyed the book. I was impressed at how much of an insight the reader gets into the life of Dwayne Johnson. He was very honest and straightforward. I was very impressed at how he talks about the prejudices he has faced and how honestly he discusses his family. It was also very interesting to see how The Rock's character was developed at a young age, way before Dwayne ever knew he would become the most electrifying man in sports-entertainment. And the chapter on Owen Hart was touching and a fitting tribute. The one thing that I did not enjoy was the switch from Dwayne to the Rock, I found it annoying and I think it took away from the book.

This book is a must have for any Rock fan and another good and different look into the wrestling business. If you read this book, you will really know what The Rock is cookin!

Book Review: A great book, by The Great One himself
Summary: 5 Stars

This book was just amazing. I couldn't put it down! I've always been a huge Rock fan since the very begining, and this is definatly something else that was done by The Rock to once again prove he is truly a great man.

Book Review: A must buy for anyone!
Summary: 5 Stars

Despite the earlier reviews written about this book, it is actually quite good! Though an underwriter wrote part of it, the book still relays a good story. There are many points of view from both Dwayne Johnson, and Dwayne Johnson as the Rock. Everyone is too busy comparing The Rock Says to Mick Foley's book, and just look at the little things. They don't realize that though the Rock is young, he has a history too. He suffered through college, and still came out on top. While Foley may have put in more hard work, the Rock's climb to the top was not based soley on his ancestry. This is a truly great story about the most electrifying man in sports entertainment history. If ya smell what the Rock is cookin'!

Book Review: A must read for the millions and millions of The Rock's fans
Summary: 5 Stars

If you like The Rock at all, you will love this book. If you love The Rock, this book will be the best book you will ever read! If you are not one of The Rock's fans, reading this will make you one. Buy it, jabroni.

Book Review: A solid purchase
Summary: 3 Stars

Although this book was obviously meant to cash in on the wrestling biography craze that started with Mick Foley's "Have A Nice Day," it does have many interesting points. I found his comments about other wrestlers, his match with Steve Austin at Wrestlemania, and his tribute to the late Owen Hart particulary intriguing. However, even though I am a big fan of The Rock, I must say that I was a little disappointed after turning the last page. This book does not hold a candle to Mick Foley's "tale of blood and sweatsocks." In his autobiography, Foley bounces around between different wrestling organizations (some even in in other countries), thoroughly describing his legendary matches along with some humorous insight as to what goes on behind the scenes of the business. Basically, Dwayne Johnson's story goes like this: Born a natural athelete into a family with a rich wrestling history, he excelled in sports, had a brief stint as a star college football player and then went straight to the top of the World Wrestling Federation within a few years of his debut. Not exactly the most inspirational story. Another thing that irks me is the chapters with the "Rock Talk." Although the writing is amusing, I bought the book to read about the man behind the character that I watch on TV every week. Still, this book is worth the money. Just make sure you read it before Mankind's book, or you will be in for a disappointment.
