Book Review: If all other diets have failed, try this one. Summary: 3 Stars
The Rosedale Diet Book
This diet works. It is the only book that makes it clear that excess protein can be turned into sugar and then into fat. Like all good things, it comes with work, but when all else has failed, this one will work for you.
Book Review: It Works! Summary: 5 Stars
I'm a physically, active male over the age of 50 and I had reached the point that it seemed like skipping meals was the only effective means to not gaining weight. And while I could maintain I was often hungry and it was difficult to lose weight. Since practicing the Rosedale diet over about 3 weeks and I admit probably only holding to it about 75% of the time, I have lost 5 pounds. Also, I'm not hungry and I don't feel the urge to eat sweets like I once did. The bonus to the Rosedale Diet is not just the weight loss potential but the many health gains that you'll get on the inside of your body. Eating high fat (but the right kind of fat) may be counterintuitive to what we've been bombarded with by the media but for me it works.
Book Review: It worked for me Summary: 5 Stars
It worked for me - effortlessly.
In high school 40 years ago I weighed about 165.
For many years more recently my weight was in the 195 or so range.
Several years back I got a desk job and my weight started to creep higher.
A year ago February it was up to 210.
This was 30 pounds above the upper range of my ideal weight.
I had already tried cutting down on carbs but that obviously didn't work.
[...]
I downloaded the e-book and tried it out.
Within 2 months I lost 45 pounds.
Now after that I became a little more lax in following the diet and my weight went back up to 180.
In the last month or 2 I went back to following the diet relatively strictly - with some cheating.
My weight is now down to 160 and I hope to lose another 5 lbs before I relax the diet.
(Add more fruits and whole grains in particular.)
Here is what I am eating now. Obviously you can substitute or broaden this with a wide variety of foods if you want to spend the prep time.
I usually eat 2 bags of mixed vegetables a day - NOT however the classic mix of corn, carrots, pea etc.
But various stir fry mixes - broccoli or sugar snap or asparagus stir fry. (not the one with the added pasta.)
I cover this liberally with olive oil (key in my mind) and sprinkle with Mrs. Dash. Sometimes I'll add a can of sardines or 2 or 3 eggs. (As far as I'm concerned almost any non-processed protein source can be substituted for the sardines or eggs.)
At night I usually eat a cup of oatmeal (dry measure) and half a pound or so of blueberries. And recently due to 18 holes of golf a day - 2 light beers are included as well.
(Last year when I lost the weight I was not exercising at all.)
Within the recent time frame where I have been losing this weight I have had numerous occasions where I have binged - and it shows on the scales - but I get back on the plan and my weight heads back down.
I have no idea why this worked so well for me.
I don't count calories.
So I have no idea if I am eating substantially fewer calories than before.
I suspect it may in fact change my metabolism so that it burns fat more efficiently.
Which as I recall is one of the claims Rosedale makes.
Also it definitely reduces cravings. I am not as hungry as I used to be.
I don't buy and eat a whole pie anymore or the like.
This latter is in fact one of the major claims made by Rosedale.
I.e. the diet will curb hunger cravings.
For me that is definitely true.
Bottom line for me is that the diet works.
Book Review: Review of my recent book purchase Summary: 5 Stars
My book purchase was everything I expected. It was in good condition as was stated in the description, and there were no markings, tears, or other distinguishing factors to take away from the book's appearance. I was very pleased, once again.
