Book Review: GOOD, BUT
Summary: 3 Stars
I purchased this book as I have traveled extensively in the Yucatan and I also enjoyed the authors first book "A Simple Plan." I am sorry to say this book fell a little flat to me, it just took too long to develop. The book sort of mixes genres, one of those genres is horror, which is not one of my favorites. I think the book could have been better had the author stuck to the mystery adventure aspects of the story. I also did not care for the authors treatment of the ancient Maya or modern Maya in this book, he could have done more research. Don't get me wrong this book has its moments, and I am sure some will disagree with my assessment, I just think it could have been better. If you are looking for a thriller/adventure that nailed this setting check out "A Tourist in the Yucatan."
