Book Reviews of The SecretBook Review: "The Secret" Is No Secret Summary: 1 Stars
"The Secret" is not really a secret at all. This book's premise has been written about (although not in "The DaVinci Code" genre) in countless self-help books over the years - the most popular and enduring being Dr. Norman Vincent Peale's "The Power of Positive Thinking." "The secret" is repeated ad nauseum through quotes from various New Age gurus for 184 mind-numbing pages. The numerous celebrity talk-show endorsements only makes "The Secret" and its "Oh my gosh!" DVD a best-selling gold mine for its authors. It reveals nothing new.
Book Review: "The Secret" is Life Transforming Summary: 5 Stars
"The Secret" is a must read even if you have seen the DVD. I've watched the DVD several times and just finished the book. Although mostly similar there are a few things in the book that is not in the movie and visa versa. My life was happy before "The Secret" came into my life, yet now it's extraordinarily happy. I am beaming with joy and happiness and love of life. I totally believe that "The Secret" is hugely powerful and can help you transform your life.
Book Review: "The Secret" is a wonderful journey of understanding Summary: 5 Stars
I hope that every person who reads "The Secret" will recall a time in their life when they had a brilliant idea for something, and didn't do anything with it because they were uncertain about whether it was good enough. I hope they will also recall that about a month or so after having thrown their brilliant idea away, they learned that someone else had had the VERY SAME IDEA and marketed it. This was my journey of understanding as I read "The Secret." If only I had known about this years ago!
Book Review: "The Secret" is suitable for anyone with an open mind. Summary: 5 Stars
"The Secret" is suitable for anyone with an open mind.
Similar to "who moved my cheese" the movie
Not only is it ideal for novices due to the concepts being presented in a transparent and enjoyable manner, but it also satisfies advanced students of metaphysics because the execution is so delightfully original and insightful. Fans of "What the Bleep Do We Know" will undoubtedly find "The Secret" even more enjoyable because in comparison, the latter is more focused, concise, and thorough.
I heartily recommend "The Secret" to anyone interested in transcending limitations and shifting to a higher state of existence
Book Review: "The Swindle" is an apt name for this drivel... Summary: 1 Stars
Rhonda Byrne is a smart woman. Why? Because she is swindling the American populace into buying her garbage. Her information is nothing new. She has simply repackaged that information into a catchy title with a cover that seems to be crying out The Da Vinci Code. Essentially, Ms. Byrne (or her publishers) are savvy marketers. That same information is conveyed more precisely in earlier, original works. Go get yourself Napoleon Hill's "Think and Grow Rich". You will become a millionaire five times over reading that before you get even a penny from this book.
The truth the American population does not want to hear is that there is NO SECRET! They are all looking for a quick fix. Why do you think fat-loss pills like Hydroxycut are all the rage these days? People simply do not want to do all those crunches to lose their gut. It takes too much time, it's too hard, etc etc etc.
I think one of America's most visible companies has The Secret. It's their motto, and I'm sure all of you recognize it. "Just do it". Nike has come up with a three-word phrase that is more true and more revealing than any of the nonsense in Ms. Byrne's book. You simply cannot just "think" about losing weight, "think" about becoming filthy rich. You must do. And doing something is hard. But hey, that's life.
Someone once told me, "Doing anything worthwhile is going to be hard. If it was easy, it would not be worth your while in the first place."
Please, save yourself some money and save Ms. Byrne from becoming a multi-millionaire. The only one getting rich from her secret is herself. Do not buy this book.
If the book deserved merit, such as the ones written by JK Rowling, all the good for her. But this one is not. It is full of crock.
If any publishers are looking for the next best-selling self-help book, please contact me. I think have a great idea to share!
