Book Reviews of The SecretBook Review: Plato, Leonardo, Galileo and Einstein, but what about others Summary: 4 StarsI go for the idea behind this book, gather a lot of thinkers and give their stories of how they went from strength to strength. The only problem was that I could not relate to any of these characters. Having read a book by Stephen Richards called Cosmic Ordering Guide, I was able to relate to how the author went through turmoil before achieving what he wanted, which I could relate to.
Maybe this book I am reviewing offers a little too much by way of its title or maybe I just felt detached, so it could be just me. I did learn something from the book, but just snippets. I have heard about the CD by the same name, maybe that would be more attractive than the book?
Book Review: Clear expression of important teachings Summary: 5 Stars"The Secret" does get somewhat repetitive, however the repetition is necessary to reinforce the positive suggestions into our mind in order to overcome doubts, disappointments and lack of belief.
I haven't finished reading the whole book yet but I was inspired to write this review because a key passage really stood out for me. It's on page 55 of the book describing the difference between "inspired action" and "action."
Action is just trying to make things happen. It involves force and comes from a place of non-confidence and non-faith. In contrast, inspired action arises out of complete faith and belief in the universe manifesting your dreams and desires. It's action where you are "acting to receive." Inspired action is flowing while ordinary action has friction as mental tension is present in it.
After reading that part, I realized that my approach to creating success in my work and desire for a close relationship with a man had unhealthy tension in it. I was coming from a place of lack not faith.
I found this to be an amazing insight and for it alone the book was worth it. I have just finished reading "NEXUS: A Neo Novel" by Singh & Morrison and that's another fabulous book. It weaves the insights on personal transformation into a journey of people trying to get unstuck. Both books are a good buy.
Book Review: Easy reading and highly recommended Summary: 4 StarsI was delighted to find a book of the Secret as I had purchased the DVD last year- only availble mail order form Austalia - and the book seemd to reinforce the visual content of the DVD although it has been written word for word.
For those people coming accross the Law of Attrction for the first time, this is a superb book. Easy to read, visually attractive and easy to pick up and put down - although once you start, you won't want to put it down! For those who are familiar with metaphysical teachings, the power of attraction and positive thinking, this book is nothing new - it is extremeley easy to read and fantastic to offer as gifts to friends who are wondering what all the fuss is about! There are deeper books out there... this is a superb starting point for everyone.
Book Review: Gained Some Knowledge Summary: 5 StarsI disagreed with the blurb: 'Once known only by an elite who were unwilling to share their knowledge of the power...' As how can it have been shared with us? Regardless of this I give it five stars because I was able to take the best out of this and use it to my advantage. I highly recommend utilising this with the audiobook 'Cosmic Ordering Connection' by Stephen Richards. The two go well together and I gained great deal from filling my head with knowledge that would have taken umpteen books to give me.
Book Review: Not so much self help as insperational. . ., Summary: 4 StarsI started reading the Secrete with some trepidation--it appeared to be another long on promise short on practical application self help book. It was not what I expected though. There is plenty here to enlighten and motivate, and it did make me think about the way I live my life. Expectations are important but don't live in the shadow of expectations. What is really important is how you live your life. The book is probably mistitled as I don't think there are any great secretes here, but it does have a very up lifting and affirming message. I also recommend "Across the HIgh Lonesome" for a fictional example of how people choose to live there lives (both in a positive and negative way).
