Written in a straightforward and easy-to-read style, it compels the reader to "eat it all at one sitting."
Book Review: "The Shack" Puts Your Faith Up for Review Summary: 4 Stars
Complicated To define, many Christians struggle with the concept of Trinity. Wm. Paul Young has written a compelling frictional novel that will challenge the reader and gratefully resolve many unanswered questions. What's happens to our faith when we lose a child? If you have ever been confused over the role of Christ, God and the Holy Spirit, this fear driven, edge of the seat story will make you cry, laugh, and pray. Whatever your nightmare is concerning the safety of your children, you will endure again as you follow this father through the trials of grief, loss, guilt, faith and restoration of his family. A must read for all who are seeking an answer to, "how can God be 3 in 1 person?". This story will stay with you long after you put it down, and for that you will feel satisfied and spirituality well-fed.
Book Review: "The Shack" by William Young Summary: 5 Stars
I absolutely LOVED this book. I recommend it to everybody. I was given it as a gift and have since given it to many other friends who in turn have given it as gifts also. I won't give the plot away at all but just be sure to not stop with the "sadness" that takes place within the first 75 pages.
I had tried to buy this at the local Christian Book store but they didn't have it. I went to Amazon and not only did they have the book but it was $4 cheaper.
Book Review: "The Shack" is possibly the WORST book I have ever read Summary: 1 Stars
Pure drivel. "The Shack" is intellectually insulting, cheesy, boring, juvenile, poorly-written, and dumb. For the life of me, I cannot understand what people see in this contrived and hokey book. Only read it because my book club is reading it. I consider myself to be a sophisticated and voracious reader and I have read a lot of books from a lot of different genres, but it was possibly the WORST book I have ever read. I know I sound snobby, but I have no idea how anyone, from devoutly religious folks to new-age explorers, could like it. I would like to think that I tried to read it with an open mind, but it was a super sappy pseudo-Christian allegory story and I was rolling my eyes and practically queasy most of the way through it. Had to force myself to finish it. Ultimately, I have to say that I hated it just about as much as I hated "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" and "The Celestine Prophesy" and I detested both of those, too. I spent a dollar for my used copy, but would like my money back! Honestly, I probably won't even donate it to charity, but will have to throw it away instead. If you want good fiction, read high quality literature. If you want enlightening, inspirational reading, read biographies of great men and women and books by real philosophers. If you want theology, go to church or temple. "The Shack" was annoying, not profound, and a big waste of my time. (Normally, I wouldn't get so riled up over a weak book, but I guess I felt trapped or forced into reading this one since it was picked as a selection by a member of my book club, someone I really like.) This book was preachy, practically unreadable, and altogether distasteful. Don't torture yourself by trying to get through this silly book.
Book Review: "The Shack" makes you stop and think Summary: 5 Stars
I went into reading this book a little cynical, but after spending the time reading it with a more open mind...it was a life changing event for me. I would recommend this book to anyone that has questions, or already has a deep faith..it re-affirmed my faith..it made me feel like although I wasn't a bible toting person..and that I didn't attend church regularly I was still okay with God..I hate to sound so cliche but it did change the way that I look at religion..and it did have a huge affect on my personal relationship with God. Thank you for this wonderful book..and God Bless you for having the courage to write it..
