Book Reviews of The Shack

Book Review: Seminary Grad's Review...for what it's worth
Summary: 5 Stars

As a seminary graduate and a veteran of decades of ministry, I highly recommend The Shack. It is delightful reading and gives clear, disarming theological insights that will shake up traditionalists. It will bring relief to those who have been abused by legalists and institutional religion. Great Reading!

Book Review: Sugar Shack Aunt Jemima God
Summary: 1 Stars

This book is so far off base. God is presented as sort of a sweet happy joking Aunt Jemima type who's always cooking up somthing good in the kitchen and dishing out it-don't-make-no-never-mind platitudes. Jesus is the clumsy son who makes a mess in the kitchen and would rather lay out and contemplate the stars; and the Holy Spirit is portrayed as some sort of etherial female who spends the day in the garden sort of wafting by once in awhile. Everything's ok and I'm just tolerant of everything you little darlin. I kept turning pages trying to push myself through this saccharin and it just kept going and going and going. If you want a saccharin god then read away. If you want the God of the Bible, don't waste your money. If you want to find out why bad things happen to good people, read the Book of Job.

Book Review: The Shack
Summary: 5 Stars

When the book was first showen to me by some very good friends of mine, the expression of excitment and the need to share this book with me was enough to intrige me. I purchased the book and two days later I was finished.

The struggles that was mentioned about the belief of God was well written by the author, the emotions of the father of the child that was killed is all the emotions that we all go though every day of our lives. Believing in God, if there is a God why would He let this happen.

God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit is well written about in this book. It truley is a book that is very hard to put down.

Book Review: The Shack
Summary: 4 Stars

This book confirms what I believe to be the true intention of God. Very insightful, whether fiction or fact, a delight to read.

Book Review: The Shack
Summary: 4 Stars

The Shack was recommended to me by a friend in a class that was studying Money and the Law of Attraction. I found this story to be difficult at times to get through the pain of the character, but learned so much about "God's Love" that I had never in-ternalized before. After this experience, I will never think of God, Jesus and Sprit in the same way again. Now, I understand what it means to truly know, love, walk and talk with God on a personal level. I give this book 4 stars only because it was sometimes difficult to keep up with the conversations between Mack and God, Jesus and Spirit without having to read the passage more than once. I now see them (all 3) differently. Thank you, Wm P Young, for such a wonderful journey and life changing experience.
