Book Review: A Nice Addition to the Series

I have to say that I enjoyed this book. It was nice to read about The Blood without all the grand, world-shaking powers of Janelle and Sadi at work. Instead I got to watch a destroyed realm rebuild itself with a non-stereotypical Queen. Seeing the details of how she chose her court and began to heal the land was very interesting. I didn't despise Theran. Janelle said it herself that he wasn't going to be important to Cassidy, the imported Queen, so even though it seemed like he would be a major character, he just wasn't that big of a deal. Ms. Bishop seemed to be using him as some sort of barometer of how badly the land was damaged. I'm hoping that he will improve as the land improves. And he was a minor annoyance that the Lady Vae more than offset. The female sceltie character was totally awesome. Ms. Bishop does a fantastic job with her Kindred characters and Lady Vae was quite the personality. So while there were some issues like too many details about Janelle and Sadi and some less than sympathetic characters like Theran who could be annoying, Cassidy, Gray, and, my favorite, Lady Vae definitely offset those short comings and made this a very good book to read.
