Book Reviews of The Shell SeekersBook Review: Like finding an old friend... Summary: 5 Stars
This novel is an all-time favorite in my much-loved collection of Rosamunde Pilcher books. I first read this book in the late 1980s and loved it.
The book centers around Penelope Keeling who is sixty-four and the daughter of an (now famous) artist whose work went for pennies while he was alive. Penelope has a few pieces of his work left including The Shell Seekers. Two of her three children, selfishly, want the painting sold and the third wants her to be happy doing with the artwork as she pleases. However, there's so much more to this beautiful story that is truly entrancing. The interactions between Penelope and her adult children are interesting and believable. Each chapter focuses on a different character (family, friends and loves) and their relationship with her.
Then Penelope's need to return to her childhood home is intense and she invites each of her adult children to go with her. Each refuses for one reason or another, so she takes two cherished young friends on a pilgrimage into her past that changes their destinies. The lost love, friends and family are so real, with their powerful emotions and everyday problems that we all encounter.
I was incredibly moved by the end of this book and found it even more warm and heartfelt than the first time I read it.

Book Review: One of my favorites Summary: 5 Stars
This book is definitely on my top 10 favorites of all time. I've read it twice myself and have recommended it countless times. The Shell Seekers was my introduction to Rosamonde Pilcher and her writing style and it made me a fan. Her other books are also very good but, to me, this is her finest. I love, love, love this book!!
Book Review: One of the best books I have ever read Summary: 5 Stars
The Shell Seekers is one of the best books I have ever read. This novel is about the different generations of the Keeling family. It starts with Lawrence Stern who is Penelope Keeling's artist father and goes into the 1980's to Penelope's children Olivia, Noel, and Nancy. I really loved the character of Penelope Keeling- so loving, generous, and wise who is coming to terms with her life after a heart attack. Noel and Nancy who are her children you will love to hate. They are very greedy and selfish. It is interesting to see how Penelope doesn't let them push her around. I loved Olivia who is a lot like Penelope and has the best relationship with her out of all her children. Antonia and Danus are also lovely people in the book as well who become like family to Penelope in a special way.
I love this book because it tells a lot of truths about dealing with life and when our family dissappoints us and don't turn out how we would have hoped. It also tells the story of what happens to a family when there is money involved and people get greedy and the issues that comes with that. It is about finding peace within yourself and getting to a place were you feel good about your life and about the good and bad that has happened. I would recommend this book to anyone and I will plan every so often to re-read my favorite parts and to re-read the book as a whole. It is about 524 pages but it is totally worth the time. I don't stay up to read a book until 1 in the morning unless it is really great!
