Book Review: An refreshing teen novel
Summary: 4 Stars
I am a college student and do not have much time to sit down and read for pleasure. However, I did have some time recently and decided to read this book by Ann Brashares. I found this book to be extremely well written. She uses different references to other great novels and books, yet makes them understandable for teens that might not have read that book. Throughout the book she follows 4 friends that spend their first summer away from each other. I loved how she showed they were each individuals, yet one in their deep bond of friendship. I think that this book which focuses on these girls "coming of age" is a refreshing addition to our society. I think that Ann Brashares does a good job showing girls real life issues in a way that is both tasteful and encouraging. I think that is important for teens to know that they don't have to go through things alone and that there are positive ways to deal with hard issues. I highly recommend this book for teens and even adults.
