Book Reviews of The Sleep Fairy

Book Review: Corrected issues we didn't know we had - worked in one night
Summary: 5 Stars

We met Macy the sleep fairy at a story time event at our local book store. My daughter Macy absolutely adored the sleep fairy so we bought the book. We didn't really have any sleep issues (or at least we thought). Our bed time ritual used to be a little drawn out with requests for more drinks and stories and songs. We didn't realize this was an problem until we suddenly had a streamlined routine that gave my husband and I an extra 30 minutes in our night. After one night reading the book our 3 year old Macy hurries to get ready for bed. She can't wait to see what the sleep fairy will bring. Now with the book our routine is relaxed with no fussing -- our Macy can't wait to go to bed.

We modified our implementation a little -- we told our daughter so the sleep fairy wouldn't wake her up when she visited she was going to leave her surprises outside her door. I had her decorate a little box with stickers and we tied a ribbon and hung it on her door knob. She anxiously jumps out of bed each morning to see what is in the box -- a sticker, a dime, it doesn't matter what -- it's the anticipation. An inexpensive way for parents with challenging sleepers to reclaim time and sleep for themselves. I highly recommend The Sleep Fairy!

I am anxious to see what the Peterson's come up with next! Thanks!

Book Review: End your evenings blissfully!!! Bedtime Problems solved.
Summary: 5 Stars

We have 11 children. Six daughters. Before we found this book we were troubled every night at bedtime by three of our younger daughters. If our daughters ever stayed in bed it was purely accidental and certainly not routine. These are good children, with good behaviors, with their only weakness being at bedtime.

We used this book and within two nights, the girls were staying in bed. It actually helped to have more than one child, because they had another person to see succeed if they did not.

We were blessed with peaceful evenings alone, and happy children. The girls that would not sleep are now 8 and 6 and they have no problems staying in bed. Our five year old has been staying in bed with this book for at least two years, and our just three year old girl is now reading the book with us or even the older girls and staying in bed as well. This book even works when friends sleep over....they want to be part of the magic too!!

The book does not continue to be read every night. This book is a quick fix that you can gradually subtract once the child is used to the routine and out of the habit of getting out of bed.

We recommend this book to anyone with a child who is hard to put to bed, or just needs some behavior reinforcement for bedtime problems that occur only sometimes. We love this book. It is a God send that saved us from endless nights of stress, that should always be the most pleasant time of day. Days with children should end peaceful and lovingly, and this book would guarantee that result. What better memories to foster with your child than peaceful evenings and a little magic.

Book Review: Good Story!
Summary: 4 Stars

This book was great, while my son still doesn't sleep through the night every night in his own bed, things are better.

Book Review: Great book!
Summary: 5 Stars

My son is 4 and has a habit of getting out of bed 5 times for water, potty, kisses, whatever he can think of. This book works great at keeping him in the bed on the first try!!

Book Review: Great book, only one complaint
Summary: 4 Stars

This book helped us a lot with our 3.5 year old. She caught on to the concept right away and stopped asking to get out of bed. My only complaint is similar to what others have said....once they are sleeping well, you are supposed to tell them that the sleep fairy won't come every night any more, only sometimes. This has been a hard concept for her to understand...she thinks she has done something wrong if the sleep fairy doesn't come. Overall, it has helped us, but I wish there was something in the story about how the sleep fairy's visits become less frequent!
