What drew me first into the wonderful world of Spiderwick was the beautiful illustrations.
Holly Black (Tithe: A Modern Fairy Tale) and Tony DiTerlizzi tells this marvelous tale of the Grace children: Simon and Jared (twins) and their older sister Mallory. After going through a rough time with their parents divorce (Jared Grace especially) - move into their Aunt and Uncles home or better known as The Spiderwick Estate. The house is a bit broken down, but the children soon discover there is more to the house then meets the eye.
Once upon stumbling into their Uncles study they find The Field Guide and soon the adventures begin.
The children learn to work with each other and use their own special talents to help them through each situation.
It is a tender and adventurous series with beautiful illustrations, a great sense of humor, mixed with faeries, goblins, trolls, shape-shifters and so much more!
Recommended for ages 9+
