Book Reviews of The Story About Ping

Book Review: Great allegory to the virtual world
Summary: 4 Stars

I think I'm one the many who bought this book based on the first review above. I totally agree with the reviewer. The messages are subtile but you can figure out the message embedded in the storyline. Not quite the "nmap" primer but yet a great source of inspiration for new network protocols ;-)

Book Review: Has been a favorite of mine for years!
Summary: 5 Stars

Although not offically a classic, this book should be. I have dozens of happy memoires of my mother reading this story to me over and over and over and over again. I would recomend to any child.

Book Review: It's About The Duck...Stupid!
Summary: 5 Stars

Get a life guys! It's a simple story with a warm ending. Tells your kids that even if they venture out into the world and make some bad choices or dumb mistakes, a loving family still welcomes them back with love and affection (have you looked at the last picture?). Your kids don't read more into it so why should you?

This is my one of my daughter's favorite books. She's 23 now and will be reading it to her kids. It's one of those books that, in the end, makes a little child feel warm and safe...the way they should feel.

Book Review: Mixed feelings
Summary: 3 Stars

As a kid I had a real love-hate relationship with this book!
I liked the drawings and the story, but found the whole "last duck to the boat gets spanked" thing kind of stressful. Also the fact that Ping gets captured. But I wouldn't write it off, I do consider it a classic - but maybe get this one from the library before buying it.

Book Review: Nightmares!
Summary: 1 Stars

I had this book while growing up and I hated it! It gave me nightmares to the point where I couldn't even have it in the room with me. I am 29 now, with 5 children of my own and I still have nightmares about this book. I will never subject my children to this book. The cruelty and terror Ping must go thru is horrifying.
