Book Reviews of The Tomb (Adversary Cycle/Repairman Jack)

Book Review: Puzzled...
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought this book because I enjoyed _The Keep_ a number of years ago, and the enthusiastic reviews I found on Amazon. I was puzzled that I found this book to be quite awful.

Wilson's writing is clumbsy; his characterizations are one-dimensional (focusing on appearance, mostly); the characters' motiviations are muddled; the events in the story are not writen to be convincing or compelling. I read until page 110, hoping it might be a "good" bad novel, but it just got too embarrassing. Some readers might enjoy this book, having first set low expectations. I decided to spend my time elsewhere.

Book Review: Pedestrian
Summary: 1 Stars

Didn't raise a single scare with me. I had trouble concentrating on it. The second F. Paul Wilson book I have tried and I am determined it will be the last.

Book Review: Revenge, monsters, and repairs.
Summary: 5 Stars

F. Paul Wilson introduced his popular character Repairman Jack in this novel that became the second book in the six book Adversary Cycle. Driven by the need for revenge, Repairman Jack conducts illegal 'repairs' of ethically sticky situations either through brains or brawn. He finds himself in a particularly gruesome mess when the family of his estranged girlfriend (she does not approve of his rogue vigilantism) is marked for death by a revenge seeking Indian. Lots of action, monsters, and narrow escapes follow. Highly recommended.

Book Review: Thank you Mr. Wilson for bringing Jack back!
Summary: 5 Stars

Repairman Jack is one of my favorite characters after reading The Tomb several years ago. Since I have been out of circulation for about a couple of years (reading any novels), I will look forward to reading new Repairman Jack novels based on other reviews including my reading The Tomb book in the past. I just ordered Legacies and Conspiracies books through here recently since the local used bookstore didn't have them except for The Tomb and All the Rage books which I bought. I will read The Tomb book first again to refresh my memory and familiarize myself with Repairman Jack's background. Because I last read The Tomb book about 11 years ago. Thanks Mr. Wilson for bringing him back.

Book Review: You want to be absorbed by a book?
Summary: 5 Stars

This book was captivating from like the moment I picked it up. I read through page after page loving it. I think the best part is how real everything feels. How you get drawn right into the main character, Jack. Until it is like you become him walking down the streets of New York city. This man is not a super hero. It's like he has like flesh, blood, heart, and soul like us. Read it.
Aside from his incredibly dynamic characters it also has an excellent plot that kept me guessing a lot. And got me buying up the Repair Man Jack series.
