Book Review: "..... offers everything and confirms nothing" Camus

As you plunge into the book you are entering a realm of confusion, of emotional coldness. As if a thin sheet of cool steel separates the character, Joseph K., from the world around him and only on very rare occasions is he able to penertrate that sheet and come into contact with the warmth of humanity. Nothing makes sense in K.'s life but the indifference with which he faces that is itself chilling. It "offers everything and confirms nothing"; for you can understand K.'s predicament on so many different levels - on the level of social control and Big Brother's eye and even on the level of a confrontation with the unconsious. K.'s situation could be seen as a coming face to face with a hitherto neglected unconscious - it is absurd as he cannot understand what is happening to him but nevertheless he can still manage to go on living despite all the uncertainties. But how long will he be able to hold on for ? I am wondering, if Kafka had continued this story, whether K. would have finally succumbed to the might of his unconscious and simply gone 'mad'.
