Book Review: College student/avid reader loves this book!

I am an avid fantasy reader but this is the first Japanese novel I have read. The cover of this book caught my eye. I am so glad I bought this! Once I started reading it I couldn't put it down.
I don't want to give too much away because the story's plot is incredible and there are some huge twists in it. The not knowing what's going on adds to the suspense and sense of danger. Indeed there is A LOT of danger facing the heroine of the story. This book is full of action, and I do mean that literally. There is constantly something going on that keeps the reader turning the pages long into the night. The book is also full of suspense, mystery, inner struggles, monsters, demons, swords, girls swinging swords, talking animals, and lots more!
I like stories that deal with the question of fate and destiny. The book begins with the main character, a high school girl named Yoko, living an ordinary life in Japan. The only thing un-ordinary about her is her hair-it's naturally bright red! She tries to fit in with her peers in school but she remains an outsider. From the beginning her hair color suggests that she is something special plus she has very strange dreams every night. Circumstances pull her into a mysterious world that brings out her true form. In the beginning of the book she is weak and unsure of herself. She tries to please everyone so much that she no longer knows who she is anymore. Her quest causes her to fight for her life daily. Gradually she grows into a strong person. I truly loved this book and I cannot wait for the other books in the series to come out. This is an amazing book and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes a good story about adventure and self discovery.
