Book Reviews of The Twilight Zone CompanionBook Review: Still indispensible! Summary: 5 StarsEvery time the Sci-Fi Channel runs one of their "chain reaction" marathons of TZ, this book is always on my coffee table. Not only does it contain summaries of every single TZ episode (including the ones that aired only once or not at all), it has great bios on Serling and his "core" writers: Charles Beaumont, George Clayton Johnson, and Richard Matheson. You even get a mini-history of each of the five seasons: how both the public and the sponsors responded to the show in general, and Serling in particular; how the writing often suffered when TZ went into hour-long episodes; and even the reasons behind why several of writer Ray Bradbury's screenplays were picked up but never used. It's twenty years later, and Zicree's book is as timeless as the subject he chronicled.
Book Review: Detailed Episode summaries, and amazing extra info plus more Summary: 5 StarsNow I'm not the biggest Twilight Zones fan. I can't recite every line to Nightware at 20,000 feet or tell you what episode number Time Enough at Last is. But when I got this book, I fell in love with the Twilight Zone. Marc Scott Zicree does a fantastic job by explaining what happens in each episode. He can tell you what Rod Serling says at the opening and closing, who stars in the episode, if it was taken from another idea, PLUS! Every episode summary is followed by an extremely detailed extra info pages. Did you know that Terror at 20,000 feet or To Serve Man, two of the Twilight Zone's greatest episodes, weren't really Rod Serlings ideas? (They were copied from Stories) Or that A game of pool has two endings? (They include the dialogue of both endings in the book) With a full 15 page bio of Rod Serling at the beggining, any Twilight Zone fan, big or small, will love this book.
Book Review: T-Zone Chronicles Summary: 5 StarsThe Twlight Zone was one of the best written shows that was ever produced for TV. Every episode gave the viewer something to think about. This book is an excellent reference guide to the episodes and what went into making them the gems that they are.
Book Review: The Best Book About TZ Summary: 5 StarsIf you are a big fan of the imortal sci-fi series you got to read this book! But if you're not you'll also like very much,it have all the kind of information about this amazing tv show. The best book about a tv show I've ever read.
Book Review: Maybe needs an update Summary: 4 StarsThis book was perfect in 1989. However, with the advent of the DVD's and VHS tapes which contains almost all the episodes, including those which are not in syndication, and the Sci-Fi Channel re-runs, it might need a brief update. Anyway, it's one of the best tv shows review book in the market.
